MaSeR Expands New Canadian Operation
Equipment Upgrades Add Throughput Capacity for Imports from U.S. Electronics Recyclers

Barrie, ON; December 14, 2005 When MaSeR Corporation began operating its first North American facility here in March, 2005, the concept was to provide a complete domestic material recovery solution for their key client, co-located in Barrie, along with other e-recyclers throughout Canada. Then, something unexpected happened; e-recyclers throughout North America began expressing interest in shipping to Ontario to test out and use the new MaSeR system. MaSeR responded quickly by upgrading some of the front-end processing equipment so that more material could be processed quickly and efficiently. The Barrie operation is now capable of processing 3-5 tons of e-scrap per hour, likely the most efficient electronics recycling capacity available in North America on a ton/hour basis.

MaSeR’s technology is new to North America, and incorporates a delamination process into otherwise more typical shredding and separation technology to provide maximum recovery of materials from e-scrap. The MaSeR Recovery Processsm essentially recovers the natural resources used in the manufacture of electronic products: steel, aluminum, copper, precious metals and plastics, so that they can be reused time and time again.

MaSeR’s main client and Barrie landlord, Cable Recycling Inc. (CRI-GEEP) considers the MaSeR process key to growth of its electronics recycling business. Our clients, particularly Canadian OEMs, will not tolerate unchecked export of e-scrap and, at the same time, demand an efficient and cost effective alternative. They see our asset recovery capabilities, coupled with complete material recovery in the MaSeR process, as an opportunity to dramatically reduce the cost of responsible domestic processing”, said Alfred Hambsch, CEO of Barrie Metals and CRI-GEEP.

MaSeR’s business plan calls for similar operations in the U.S., Europe and Asia within the next few years. In the meantime, the upgraded Barrie operation is providing U.S. recyclers with an alternative to expensive demanufacturing for material recovery., “We’re quite pleased that the U.S. e-recycling community has responded in the manner in which they have”, said Dale Johnson, CEO of MaSeR Corporation. “We figured we would need to have a U.S. based operation first before we could demonstrate MaSeR’s value to the U.S. e-recycling community. The activity we now have with U.S recyclers shipping to Barrie will help MaSeR seed the market for the build out of our operations in the U.S.”

MaSeR Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of Massachusetts based, MaSeR Corporation. Its major investor is Greenwich, CT based Asia West, which includes other advanced environmental technology companies in its portfolio such as recyclers MBA Polymers and Mobius Technologies, both based in California.
